This is my "All about the foods" project. I decided to participate in the Ceramics project because I really enjoyed working with clay on my final project last semester. The foods I chose are yogurt and a lunch-meat wrap, because I'm on a diet ( Tragic, I know! ): ) I made a bowl for yogurt and a plate for the wrap, and I'm very happy with how they turned out. I tried to make a consistent color palette with red, purple, green and blue, and tried to tie in a theme of stripes. I wish my craftsmen-ship was smoother, and I cracked my plate and spoon, but all were repaired and you can't notice.
Madame Ewe - Gouache Painting
I love, love, loved painting this! I'm really pleased with how this turned! I decided to paint a sheep-person hybrid. I wanted to represent how beauty standards are produced to brainwash people. I chose to make it medieval themed to allure to how different beauty standards were back when we had no running water or makeup. The shading and color vibrancy is another thing I'm proud of. I love this piece.
Gouache Sheeple Painting
Here is my sketch for my painting I plan on doing. I will be using gouache, and I'm very excited to do it. I love painting and I really like my idea.
"Essence" Clay Sculpture- Final Project
And here is my final project for 1st semester! I decided to create a sculpture and paint it with acrylics. This sculpture represents mother nature and the beauty in natural femininity. I feel as though femininity is often seen as weak, but I want to show and express that mother nature is the striving force that keeps the world going. I'm overall very happy with this piece. I love how the form came out, and how I sculpted the flowers. I wish I had maybe made the flowers more vibrant, but I kind of enjoy the subtlety of the colors as well.
"America's Cold-Sore" Painting-Project 3
This painting, while simple, has a lot of meaning to me. I really enjoyed creating it, and it was interesting working with a square canvas. My painting is about not only the mistreatment of gay people, but also speaks upon racism and interracial couples. The messy, dreary background represents the outside world's hatred for those who don't meet society's convention. Straight is how god made us, right? We are animals, we were born to reproduce, and homosexuality is just an abomination! I want to challenge those who may be close-minded in our area, no matter which of the meanings they take away from this. I created this mainly with acrylics, but used a marker/pen for the detailing. I really enjoy the texture of the caution tape around the sides, and the risk I took with the background really turned out great. While I enjoy the figures, I wish I had paid more attention to anatomy and stiffness, because the man on the right seems pretty stiff to me.
"Pollution's Paradise" - Project 2
For my second project, I chose to do a large scale colored pencil piece about pollution and our planet's future. The environment is very important to me, and I wanted to display something in the Art Show that would express what is to come of our planet if there is not a change. I really enjoyed creating this, because while I use them sometimes, I don't specialize in colored pencils. It was a nice change from paint or markers, and I think my blending and color building is nice. I attached the bird creatures and the baby seperate, and folded paper underneath of it to give it a slight 3D look. Overall, I am very happy with this piece.
Pull Tab Robot "Betsy" -Project 1 Pt. 2
Here is my completed first project for Advanced Art! While I'm happy with how it looks, I wish I had spent more time on it. The arms are connectedly loosely which is what I was originally going for, but I think that a stronger connection at the joints would be better. I also wish that I could have made the legs pull-tab to reveal wheels as well. While I like how the legs look, I think an addition of the wheels would have been cool.
Pull Tab Robot "Betsy" - Project 1
This is my first project for Advanced Art! I plan on making a pull-tab paper collage robot. I have tried first by cutting out the shapes backwards, so that my pencil marks won't show. Now I am adding details onto the paper-robot and gluing things down. I will add the pull tab weapons later on in the finalized design and finished body.
